Springfield Golf Club is located in central Rotorua, Devon Street West. Springfield is the only championship course in Rotorua. The course measures at 5639 meters from the blue tees (championship) and 4948 meters from the yellow tees (ladies). The men's club tees (white) play 5434 meters long. The course par 70 mens (72 ladies) might be short but it still offers a great challenge Springfield is known for its extremely tight fairways (one measuring only 8 meters wide) and its vast amount of trees.
The need for a second 18 hole golf course in the late 1930's prompted a group of local golfers (mostly playing on the 9 hole course at the government gardens) to look for suitable land close to town on which to establish a new club.
